Lowe’s Grove Middle School teacher Jamila Bowser has been named the national 2009 SECME Teacher of the Year. Each year, SECME, Inc. (formerly the Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering) recognizes outstanding K-12 educators who have demonstrated leadership ability in advancing student development and outcomes in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The Carrington Middle School chorus was recently invited to New York City for the national Festival of Gold choral competition. The chorus competed at the high school level.
Congratulations to Andrew Kelly, left, of Rogers-Herr Middle School and Hannah McShea of W.G. Pearson Middle Magnet School! They were recently awarded Grand Recognition from Duke University’s Talent Identification Program.
